Full and Partial Dentures
One of the many services we offer here at Redwood Family Dentistry is denture care. We offer full dentures as well as partial dentures, so we are able to accommodate a wide variety of needs and situations. Dentures are artificial teeth that look and function like real teeth, and can be removed for routine cleaning. If you are interested in pursuing dentures as a treatment option, talk to us about a suggested treatment plan.
Why might I need dentures?
There are a few different reasons for a patient to consider dentures. The most common reason is having multiple missing teeth or the need for multiple extractions. If you only have one missing tooth, a bridge or implant may be the perfect option for you. However, if you are missing multiple teeth, it may make more sense to commit to full or partial dentures.
While it is true that age is often a contributing factor, dental patients may need dentures at any age. This is particularly true for partial dentures, as individual teeth can be damaged at any age once your permanent teeth have grown in.
Partial dentures are meant to replace one or more missing teeth. If you do not need to replace all of your teeth, partial dentures are a great option. They allow for a restored smile and much more efficient chewing. Most partial dentures are made with metal and acrylic, though the exact design will depend on the patient’s needs. Partial dentures generally consist of a metal frame with the necessary artificial teeth attached. The metal will not be visible behind your natural teeth, but it will hold everything in place and keep your dentures discreet and undetectable.
Full dentures are the way to go if you need all of your teeth replaced. In many situations we are able to provide our patients with immediate dentures, meaning that your dentures are prepared and ready to go before your final tooth extractions, so you’ll never be toothless. Full dentures will allow you to chew functionally and smile with confidence. They are also fully removable for easy cleaning.
